Emla 5% Cream is a local anaesthetic treatment designed to temporarily numb the surface of the skin before certain medical or cosmetic procedures. It contains a combination of lidocaine and prilocaine, which work together to block pain signals in the applied area, helping to reduce discomfort from needle insertions, blood tests, minor surgical procedures and some dermatological treatments. When used as directed, it can significantly improve comfort and help ease anxiety associated with anticipated pain.

The cream is suitable for use on intact skin and is commonly applied prior to injections or minor skin interventions under professional guidance. It begins to take effect after a period of application, allowing the skin to become sufficiently numbed before the procedure takes place.
